What does basic strategy say?
Basic strategy is a lookup table, and a lookup table is only useful once you no longer need to look it up. The trainer deals an opening hand against a dealer upcard and asks for the play. Answer, see whether you were right, move on. Nothing is at stake and no round is played out — this is purely the decision.
How to get the most out of it
Aim for a hundred hands in a sitting and watch which mistakes repeat. Almost everyone leaks the same way: standing on 16 against a ten out of fear, missing the double on 11, splitting tens because two hands feel better than one. Once you clear about 95% here, you are playing the chart well enough that the remaining edge comes from the rules of the table rather than from you.

Blackjack basic strategy
Basic strategy is the mathematically best play for every combination of your hand and the dealer's upcard. It cannot make blackjack a winning game, but it cuts the house edge to roughly a third of a percent — far better than playing on instinct.
